Tuesday morning, there were no sessions scheduled at the Digital Dealer automotive conference until 11AM, so I decided to catch the first couple of hours of one of the day long seminars. With no sessions taking place, the seminars were more than full and I started listening to Kathi Kruse's "How to Create a Epic Social Media Marketing Plan" from the hallway, slowly making my way to a seat in the back row and eventually up to a table as people left. I found it quite valuable and ended up staying there for the whole day.

This evening I decided to see Le Rêve - The Dream at the Wynn Theater. I checked out the restaurants at the Wynn and found that two are particularly known for Seafood, flying in several tons of seafood from around the world each week. Bartolotta Ristorante Di Mare with its celebrity chef and the "best live langoustines on the planet" sounded wonderful, but the meal I would want there would run $250.

I "settled" for Lakeside and arrived at 5:30 as it opened for the day. The hostess sat me at one of the two best tables in the restaurant, with a prime view of the Lake of Dreams with its 40 foot waterfall and pine topped mountain. I had read the menu before making the reservation and had soup and a huge appetizer. The King Crab Chowder had a distinctive flavor which I found only so-so, but the chilled shellfish platter with jumbo shrimp, oysters, Maine lobster and Alaskan king crab was just what I wanted. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp and the smaller east coast oysters. They didn't identify the type, simply saying that certain ones were from the east coast and others from the west coast.

The meal began and ended with small gifts from the chef, an amuse bouche truffle and a sea salt and bacon chocolate bar.

I first sawLe Rêve in 2005, just a few months after it opened. The stage of the Cirque style production is a 1,000,000 gallon platform where a given location may change between hard surface, water or fire within a few seconds. No seat is more that 40' from the stage and the first two rows are a "splash zone" offered at a discounted price. I learned then that the second row barely gets wet and selected the second row again this time. The show is rechoreographed every 6 months, so the performance looked much different and only a couple of the costumes looked familiar from the first time. Everything has grown much slicker.

In 2005, it was nice that photographs were encouraged while part of the cast interacted with the audience before the show. Today, still photography is encourage throughout the performance and they invite the audience upload photos to the various social media and to tag the show. Between the rapid movement and low light it was hard getting quality photos, but fun trying.
