Alto Vista Chapel
Monday continues
Driving down the northeastern shore of Aruba with ABC
Jeep Tours, the next stop was at the Chapel of Our Lady Alto Vista. This
was the site of the first chapel on Aruba, which was built in 1750 and
used until 1816. The current church was completed in 1952. Several people
were reciting prayers in the chapel and we went no closer than the doorway.
The priest serving the surrounding Parish of Saint Anne
conducts a mass at the chapel on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM.
As we drove away from the chapel. we briefly drove along
a road which had crosses with the Stations of the Cross.
