Grand Hotel Porch Wednesday - Day 7 (Part 2) After lunch we spent a while in the rocking chairs on the Grand Hotel Porch, taking photos of the horse drawn carriages passing by. Then we walked down to the grounds to photograph some of the changes from the past few years, such as the the 400' Cedar Grove Bike Track and Gem Miniature Golf Course.
We slowly made our way back through town, partially along the water and then downtown with its shops and many famous fudge shops.
Our room was ready when we arrived at the Chippewa Hotel. We love the roomy suites on the water. We also like the location in the heart of things (important when you are walking most places), while still being quiet in the suites because of their layout.
We settled in on the balcony and relaxed for a while before heading out for a cruise with Brown Eyed Girl Charters. Alan and Allison Sehoyan, who own the company, took us out so we could see the Island through their eyes and take photos for my Straits of Mackinac Facebook page. They took us out in a 32 foot Sea Ray Sundancer and showed us the highlights of the Mackinac Island and Round Island shores and took us by the freighter Walter J. McCarthy. They made sure that we saw everything that we wanted. They also offer special trips for swimming (Mackinac Island has rocky beaches), excursions to the Round Island Lighthouse grounds and fireworks cruises.
Supper was at Kingston Kitchen at the Village Inn, which has become my favorite Mackinac Island restaurant. There was only a short wait for a table and we enjoyed the music of Gabi June. By coincidence, she was singing "Brown Eyed Girl" as we entered. We had Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Jamaican Fried Chicken.
We went to the Pink Pony for drinks and music later in the evening. Myk Rise was scheduled to perform, but was ill and Nate King did a good job of filling in. I had a Yachters Painkiller (Mount Gay Rum, cream of coconut, orange & pineapple juice and a dash of nutmeg) and Linda had a Fudge Martini (Frangelico, Dorda Double Chocolate Liqueur, Trader Vic's Chocolate Liqueur and whipped vodka).
