| Normal access to Round Island
Lighthouse is only by private boat or (during some winters) over the
ice.
The Round
Island Lighthouse Preservation Society used to host an anual open house
where they arranged for charter boat service from Mackinac Island, and
opened the lighthouse interior for viewing and photography. Unfortunately,
the tour had to be cancelled due to high waves in 2016 and no additional
events are planned due to difficulties in securing safe public transportation
to Round Island; as well as needed interior repairs necessary for safe
public access into the Lighthouse.
