Kauai Rum Safari Tour - Kilohana Plantation Monday - day 4 The Kauai Rum Safari Tour was a hoot. They used a lifted Ford F-350 with 16 seats for passengers. The driver and narrator were both fun and took us through the Kilohana Plantation fruit orchards, telling us about the many crops and stopping to pick fruit to use later for cocktails. They gave avocados to the guests who said they were going to be on the island for at least a week, because the avocados would need the time to ripen. We passed through the farm, stopping so see various animals, including pigs being raised by our narrator, who is preparing to start selling sausage.
In the forest, we walked a boardwalk to the Jungle Bungalow where we tasted three Koloa Rums and had Kilohana Plantation orchards signature Mai Tai: 1 oz Koloa gold rum
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake well. Pour into a highball glass and add a float of Koloa Dark Rum..
Returning to the tour truck we saw more of the plantation and stopped at a small island in a pond for farm-to-glass cocktails made entirely from fruits and herbs that are grown on the plantation.
