Tahquamenon Falls with fall colors
Upper Tahquamenon Falls
October 11, 2008: Saturday afternoon we visited Tahquamenon Falls in the Upper Peninsula, near Whitefish Bay (mentioned in the song Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald). There are two sets of falls on the Tahquamenon River, 4 miles apart. The upper falls is the 2nd largest east of the Mississippi. They are always beautiful, but it was spectacular with the fall colors, which were just past their peak (they were peak in the northern LP for the drive back to Flint on Monday).

Upper Tahquamenon Falls in the Spring
Much more water was racing over the upper Tahquamenon Falls in May of 2005 when I took this photo. That trip report.
