Although I have the MightyMac.org
website and Facebook
page, I live in Kansas and only get to Northern Michigan a couple of
times a year. My family has an extended visit to Mackinaw City and Mackinac
Island scheduled later in the year, so this was a quick visit to take photos
updating 2017 - lots of photos, over 1300 photos and videos in less than
48 hours.
Friday, May 19, 2017: My flights were on United
Airlines, transferring in Chicago and flying into Traverse City, Michigan
about 9:30PM. After picking a Budget rental car, I was out of Traverse
City before 10PM. Wanting to avoid a construction detour north of Alanson,
I drove an unfamiliar route starting on M-72. The route was going to take
Old M-72 and US-131, but the GPS routing messed up when cell coverage ended
and it took a little longer route, picking up 131 farther south.
I still arrived in Mackinaw City before midnight and drove
to the foot of the Mackinac Bridge to take some safety pictures, in case
the weather prevented Saturday night photography. It was about 40 degrees
and very windy. Since I was still in shorts and a T-shirt, it was a quick
photo shoot.
