March 9, 2014: The Whitefish Point Lighthouse Station is located at the tip of the Whitefish Point. I visited this location many times in the 1960s, but less often in recent years. This was the first winter visit since the 1970s.

The Whitefish Point Lighthouse Station houses the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, which is open from the Spring until Fall. There is nothing open in winter, but some of the sidewalks had been plowed and it wasn't too hard getting around until I went on down to the shore.

The original USCG Motor Lifeboat House was recently returned to the lighthouse station and restoration is planned.
