Approaching the Rio di Palazzo and the Bridge of Sighs

Thursday continued

After a short break back at our hotel, dusk was approaching and it was time for our Gondola Ride. Linda said that if we did a gondola ride, she wanted to pick the operator, and she selected a gondola and operator in the small canal next to the Fondamenta del Vin near our hotel. The charge was 80 euros for a 40 minute ride. The price would have been 20 euros more after 7PM.

The ride was romantic, but the best part of it was going down some back canals which can not be visited on foot. Although a couple of stretches didn't smell very good, it was peaceful and nice.
